Programs & Areas of Study
Anthropology
Anthropology, in its broadest sense, is the study of what it is to be human. It differs from other disciplines that study human beings because it is holistic, historic, global, and comparative. AU's program offers courses in all four subdisciplines: archaeology, cultural anthropology, linguistic anthropology, and physical anthropology.
Cultural Studies
The cultural studies web page and core courses are presently in development. For further information please contact Dr. Patricia Hughes-Fuller.
For information on graduate-level cultural studies courses see the MAIS courses page.
Educational Studies
The Centre for Work and Community Studies offers a growing number of educational studies courses. These courses will be of particular interest to education students as well as to teachers wanting to upgrade their credentials or seeking professional development activities.
Human Services
The Human Services major of the Bachelor of Professional Arts offers undergraduate degree completion for college graduates who hold credentials in fields related to the Human Services such as early childhood, social services, and child and youth.
Human Resources and Labour Relations
The certification and degree programs in Human Resources and Labour Relations can provide those who are already working in these fields, but without formal credentials, with an opportunity to gain academic qualifications. These programs would also be of interest to anyone wanting to make a transition into this exciting area of work.
