Overview

ORGB 386 is designed to provide an introduction to the theoretical and practical aspects of human resource management (HRM) in contemporary organizations.

Outline

The course consists of the following nine units.

  • Unit 1 Introduction
  • Unit 2 Legal Environment
  • Unit 3 Job Analysis, Recruitment, and Selection
  • Unit 4 Orientation, Motivation, Training, and Development
  • Unit 5 Career Planning and Performance Appraisal
  • Unit 6 Compensation and Benefits
  • Unit 7 Health and Safety
  • Unit 8 Labour Relations
  • Unit 9 The New HRM

Evaluation

To receive credit for ORGB 386, students must achieve a course composite grade of at least a "D" (50 percent), a grade of at least 50 percent on the tutor-marked exercises and a grade of at least 50 percent on the final exam. The weighting of the composite grade is as follows:
