Examinations Procedures For Paced Courses Examinations

Effective Date    November 1988

Purpose N/A

Definitions N/A

Policy

Students in paced courses will write their examination at the same time and on the same date. Permission for alternate arrangements must be granted by the Office of the Registrar, Academic Records and Examination Unit following consultation with the course coordinator and/or the instructor.

Regulation N/A

Procedure

Particulars regarding examinations, including location(s), will be specified in the outline provided by the instructor.

In case of classroom seminars, instructors will invigilate regular sittings of mid-term and final examinations unless other arrangements, approved by the University, are in place. Instructors are not required to supervise any special or late examination sittings nor are they expected to supervise supplemental examinations.

The ‘same time/same date’ provision also applies to groups of students writing special, late, or supplemental examinations. In these cases, an on-site invigilator, approved by the Office of the Registrar, Academic Records and Examinations Unit, must be appointed. Similarly, for sessions conducted by video conference, teleconference, or other such means, where the instructor cannot be present to supervise students, appropriate on-site invigilation arrangements must again be made with the Office of the Registrar, Academic Records and Examinations Unit.
