Purpose

 
This distinguished award recognizes leadership and excellence in proactive and preventive health, safety, wellness and environmental initiatives by Athabasca University (AU) employees.

Policy Statements

 

The AHSE is awarded annually to up to two staff members or teams in recognition of excellence for achievements in HSE initiatives.  Award recipients will be honored at the Employee Recognition Event held each fall.

AHSE award recipients receive:

  • A certificate of recognition for each staff member or team member.
  • Employee or team framed and inscribed photograph to be displayed at AU Athabasca for the year of the award.

  • Recognition (name/year of award) on the AHSE plaque displayed at AU Athabasca that lists past and present award winners.

  • A professional development contribution of $2000.00 administered by Financial Services and used within established professional development fund guidelines.  In the event of more than one award recipient, funds will be pro-rated between individual staff members and/or amongst team members of 4 or less.  Team members of 5 or greater will receive a lump sum to be used for professional development as a whole amongst the team.

The AHSE Review Committee will inform award nominators and nominees of the nominations once the Committee has reached a final decision on the award.
