Academic and Professional Development Fund

Application Deadlines

  • Four times per year on March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and December 1st

The A&PDF Committee administers academic and professional development funds allocated by the University to encourage and to promote the professional development of AUFA academic and professional staff. The A&PDF may be supplemented by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) - SSHRC Institutional Grant (SIG).

The Academic and Professional Development Fund Committee

The A&PDF Committee reviews academic staff applications and allocates funds for travel and expenses. Travel expense funds will be used to offset expenses incurred in the following situations:

  • to present papers/posters to learned societies and colloquia,
  • to participate as a symposium discussant, or
  • to participate as a conference chair/organizer.

The A&PDF Committee reviews professional staff applications and allocates funds for travel and expenses. Travel expense funds will be used to offset expenses incurred in the following situations:

  • to present papers or to participate in professional development courses, seminars and workshops,
  • to attend conferences, trade shows, and training institutes as well as
  • other forms of professional development that must be shown to benefit the participant and/or Athabasca University.
