These images customize course website. The imagery and colours the schemes are generally based on the course cover so that there is a consistent appearance for our students.
The image for the title on the home page is 134 x 173 pixels. The naming standard is “(insert course name, i.e., chem217)_title.gif” or jpg.
The home page picture is 450 x 271 pixels. It aligns to the right side. The naming standard is “(insert course name)_home.gif” or jpg.
The image for the banner on the inside page is 276 (or 726) x 289 pixels. The naming standard is “(insert course name)_banner.gif” or jpg.
Note, the banner image is much bigger than the area that it covers on the page. This is to allow for text resizing in the template.

We use the GIF format for these background images. (The PNG format, which has a transparency feature, would have been ideal for creating the drop shadows but I.E. 6 (Windows) does not support PNG.)
The background images for the head, body, and foot have two layers. Select the bottom layer in the layers palette. In Photoshop, double-click on the foreground coloured square in the tool palette. Then key in the binhex number that you would like to use for the background colour. Press option+delete (Mac), alt+delete (PC), or edit>fill>foreground color>OK to fill the bottom layer. Then go to file>save for web. The naming standard is "(course name)_bg_(head, body, or foot).gif".
There are two images that do not change, but are necessary for the template to work properly. These are the University logo and a spacer image. Place these in your "images" folder and the template will properly link to them. These images are included in the folder of images available for download at the top of this page.
